Stem cells can simply be defined as the cell that can produce the same type of cell in the human body. Stem cells research receives the huge media attention. There is huge potential in the development of the stem cells. Occasionally, the news of the discovery of the artificial stem cell reverberates around the globe.

There are innate hidden dangers of the stem cell research. Due to this majority of the government around the world has banned the stem cell research.

Due to massive control on the stem cell research, there are no precise means to know the sequence of chemical required to develop the specific organ. This requires the massive experiment to have the adequate understanding.

Despite strict regulatory measure by every government around the world stem cell research is constantly gaining height.  Recently, the scientist has announced the successful growth of stem cells in the pig embryo that is the true indication of the advancement of stem cell research.

Major Types of Stem cells


Two types of stem cells are found in organism one is the embryonic stem cell and the other is the adult stem cell. After 4 to 5 days of fertilization, human embryo reaches the blastocyst stage (1). The stem cell is extracted from the inner mass of the blastocysts. An adult stem cell is the somatic stem cell found in children and adult and vital for repair and mention of the body (2).

Totipotent and Pluripotent


This is the jargon often encounter in the Stem cell reading. The totipotent cells are from the morula after the fertilization that is capable of forming any types of deserved cell. Whereas the pluripotent are the cell are from the blastocyst that is capable of forming different cells except for the placenta.


Uses


Stem cells are used to generate the loss part of the human body. The most practice treatment is the bone marrow transplant. This the common therapy used from the long time back.

There are a number of people around the world who are waiting for the organ transplant. The demand of the organ transplant is skyrocketing and the waiting time is rising year by year. By using the stem cell new organ can be manufactured at the ease and suffering can be minimized. A stem cell has the innate capacity to fulfill the growing demand.

Various chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease can be cure from the advancement of the stem cell research.

Opposition


It is strongly believed that embryo has the innate life and like the mature individual, the embryo has the right to live. Destroying the embryo is the heinous crime as the life originates from the embryo. Opponents claim that the destroying of the embryo as the criminal act.
